Attendees included Gilgit-Baltistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Samah Ahmed (Advocate); Human Rights Committee Chairman Wali Khan Morkal (Advocate); former Advocate General and Supreme Appellate Court Bar Association President Muhammad Iqbal (Advocate); High Court Bar Association President Imtiaz Ahmed (Advocate); Executive Committee member Ashfaq Ahmed (Advocate); District Bar Association Gilgit President Waqas Ahmed (Advocate); High Court Bar General Secretary Faizan (Advocate); District Bar Association Gilgit General Secretary Ashi Batool (Advocate); and other legal professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, the lawyers presented their legal reservations, constitutional questions, and concerns regarding public rights to the HRCP delegation. They emphasized that the issue of Gilgit-Baltistan’s constitutional status is not merely a matter of administrative arrangement; rather, it is deeply linked to fundamental rights, political and democratic representation, legislation, judicial authority, access to justice, and the rule of law. The meeting also featured a detailed discussion on the appointment of judges to superior courts. The lawyers maintained that ensuring judicial independence, transparent procedures, merit, and institutional autonomy is fundamental to an effective and impartial justice system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
