The police claim to have recovered Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Akram following an operation. According to the police, the judge had been allegedly abducted by activists associated with the banned Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Rawalakot police official stated that the judge was recovered during an operation conducted on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the police, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Akram was traveling from Rawalakot toward Muzaffarabad via Pallandri when he\u2014along with his vehicle\u2014was allegedly abducted at gunpoint by activists of the Joint Awami Action Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Local police reported that the judge\u2019s driver and his security guard (gunman) were also present in the vehicle at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued by the Rawalakot police, it is alleged that during the incident, the committee\u2019s activists opened fire outside a hospital, leaving two individuals\u2014including a police officer\u2014injured. It should be noted that the ‘Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee’\u2014a grassroots movement for fundamental rights in Kashmir that has been declared a proscribed organization by the Government of Pakistan\u2014now enjoys the full and robust support of the Kashmiri people. For over four months, protesters have been staging sit-ins in Rawalakot and other cities, with women and children also participating.
