Pakistan\u2019s current account deficit stood at $1.7 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, compared to a surplus of $564 million in the same period last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, there was an improvement in the month of January. In January, the current account was in surplus at $121 million, compared to a deficit of $265 million in December. In January 2025, the deficit was $393 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The central bank says that the current account deficit for the entire year could be between zero and one percent of the total volume of the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Foreign exchange reserves are expected to reach $18 billion by June 2026, which is enough to cover about three months of imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
