A new global development has emerged for the reconstruction of Gaza and peace in the region. US President Donald Trump announced at the opening session of the Gaza Peace Board that nine countries have jointly pledged $7 billion for the reconstruction of Gaza. These countries include Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Kuwait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same meeting, Trump added that the US would provide $10 billion for the Gaza Peace Board, but it was not clear on which projects this money would be spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Major General Jasper Jeffers, commander of the International Stabilization Force, Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Albania have promised to send thousands of troops to maintain peace in Gaza, while Egypt and Jordan will provide police training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, there are significant differences between the US and the UK on the issue of Iran. The British government has refused to allow the US to use Royal Air Force airfields for potential attacks on Iran. In the past, the US has used RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and the British overseas territory of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean for operations in the Middle East.
A British government spokesman said that a political process is underway between the US and Iran and that the UK supports it. The spokesman added that Iran should never develop nuclear weapons and that the security of the region is the UK\u2019s top priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, talks are also underway between Iranian and US delegations in Switzerland. President Trump had said in a recent statement that the world will soon know whether the US is reaching an agreement with Iran or moving towards military action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the one hand, the international community is promising to provide billions of dollars and military resources to rebuild Gaza and establish peace, on the other hand, differences between the US and the UK over Iran\u2019s nuclear program are increasing tensions in the region.
