AFP also reported, citing multiple sources, that the attack came shortly after two Iranian-backed militants were killed in attacks on the Iraqi capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Security officials in Baghdad said the US mission was targeted in an attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump said that \u2018US Central Command (US CENTCOM) has carried out one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East and has completely destroyed all military targets on the Iranian island of Kharg.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his message on Truth Social, President Trump said that \u2018I have chosen not to destroy the oil infrastructure on the island. However, if Iran, or anyone else, attempts to interfere with the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called on Iran to lay down its weapons and \u2018save what is left of their country, which is not much.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shortly before this statement, President Trump spoke to reporters before boarding Air Force One. Meanwhile, when asked how long he thought the war would last, he said, \u201cI can\u2019t tell you that either.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
