Mike Waltz also responded to former President Donald Trump\u2019s statement in which he said that the US was close to \u201ccompletely destroying\u201d Iran\u2019s missile capability and defense industrial structure. According to Waltz, the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has a deep influence on Iran\u2019s critical infrastructure and government institutions, so \u201call options must be on the table\u201d to weaken Iran\u2019s military capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday that the United States is considering reducing its military operations in the ongoing war in the Middle East, but at the same time made it clear that Iran will never be allowed to come close to a nuclear capability. According to him, the United States also wants to neutralize Iran\u2019s navy, air force and anti-aircraft systems so that its allies in the region can be defended \u201cat the highest level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US Secretary of Defense Pat Hegseth also confirmed this position, saying that Washington\u2019s goals have not changed since the first action against Iran on February 28.
