Bagh: Woman at risk of disability during physiotherapy, family demands justice

A serious incident of alleged negligence during physiotherapy has come to light in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Member of District Council Bagh Mufti Muhammad Shahid Naseem has claimed in a media interview that due to the wrong therapy by Bagh’s renowned physiotherapist Masood Irshad, a woman, Raja Farman, a resident of Union Council Thabkhas Bhatti Sharif, is at risk of disability in one leg.

According to Mufti Shahid Naseem, the woman was brought to Bagh due to pain, where physiotherapist Masood Irshad twisted her leg in such a way during treatment that the pain increased severely. Later, she was shifted to Rawal Hospital in Islamabad, where doctors said that the woman’s vertebra had broken due to excessive pressure and despite treatment, there is a 99 percent chance that she will not be able to walk.

The victim is a mother of five children, and according to her family, they are worried about getting justice.

Mufti Shahid Naseem said that the incidents of misdiagnosis and harm to patients by unqualified doctors are increasing in Bagh.

He demanded from the Deputy Commissioner Bagh, Assistant Commissioner and the government minister to immediately check the degrees of so-called doctors and physiotherapists across the district so that patients can be saved from further harm.

He demanded legal action against physiotherapist Masood Irshad and said that a case will be registered against him soon so that he can be brought to justice.
