Thousands Attend Conference in Kothian: Supporters of the ‘Awami Huqooq Tehreek’ Remain United Four Months After Ban

In Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the people of the region remain united in pursuit of their demands, even four months after the ‘Awami Huqooq Tehreek’ (AHT)—or ‘People’s Rights Movement’—was declared an outlawed organization.

On Sunday, thousands of people—including women and children—attended a conference organized by the AHT in Kothian, located in the southern part of Bagh district. Participants expressed their firm resolve to continue the struggle for their rights.

Core members of the AHT were also present at the conference.

During the event, attendees reaffirmed their commitment to the demands for public rights and pledged to sustain the movement.

According to the organizers, the large turnout—despite the movement being outlawed and facing state-led crackdowns—demonstrates that the demands for public rights in the region remain very much alive.

The conference in Kothian took place amidst an ongoing debate regarding the legal status of the ‘Awami Huqooq Tehreek’ and the legitimacy of its demands within the region. The participation of the attendees underscored the fact that supporters of the movement intend to remain active on a collective platform to achieve their objectives.
