The arrest of a person has been revealed from Rawalakot district of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, whom the police claim is associated with the Indian intelligence agency “RAW”.
According to officials, the name of the arrested person is being given as Irfan, who confessed to his alleged links in a video statement.
The Inspector General of Jammu and Kashmir Police told a press briefing that the security agencies detained the accused during a joint operation, and important evidence has come to light in the initial investigation.
According to officials, the case is sensitive in nature and more arrests are expected.
According to the police, in the video statement, Irfan claimed that he had contacts with people abroad and was exchanging information through social media. He also said that he was given financial benefits in exchange for providing some information.
The press briefing said that the accused also expressed regret, calling these contacts a “mistake”.
However, local sources and some quarters have also raised questions about the arrest.
According to them, several such claims were made in the past as well, which became a part of the past with the passage of time without any concrete result.
Critics say that such incidents are sometimes used to “temporarily change public opinion” or “highlight the performance of security agencies”.
In a video released by the authorities, the accused Irfan is telling that a person named Shahid from Lahore sent him a friend request on Facebook and then they came into contact with each other. First, he was given the task of making various videos of the village, and later he was asked to make videos of police stations and sensitive agencies and he used to get paid for it.
The video clearly shows him reading a script. Earlier, several such cases were claimed by security agencies across Pakistan where during press conferences held, several men and women were presented as accused with their faces hidden and videos of some were made public who were presented as criminals, including Baloch women.
It should be noted that Kashgal News will work further on various aspects of this case through the family of the accused, local sources and its own independent investigation so that the facts can be brought to the public with more transparency. And right now, a one-sided state position is being published in this news.
