Large-scale financial irregularities revealed in Bhimber Public Health

A major scandal of financial irregularities has come to light in the Public Health (Water Supply) Department in Bhimber district of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir. A special team of Audit and Accounts Muzaffarabad seized the records of the AG Office Bhimber and the Water Supply Office.

According to sources, the nexus of former Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq’s frontman, former Action Iftikhar Khilji, who was desperate to declare himself a tower of principles and merit, and some officials of the Accounts Office caused a loss of about Rs 6.5 million to the government treasury through fake and double fraud, while after audit objections, Rs 6 million was quietly deposited back.

The investigation revealed that payments were being made from the DD accounts of SDO Barnala and Samahni without approval.

Sources say that there were also serious irregularities in the Barnala Water Supply Project, which was started in 2015 at a cost of Rs 400 million but could not be completed by 2026 and water is still not available in many areas.

According to the citizens, they are provided with contaminated water after several days.

Sources have further claimed that double expenses were also being charged for petrol and repairs of government vehicles during service, while some contractors have alleged that payments worth crores were withheld for not paying commission.

Citizens have demanded a thorough investigation by the Anti-Corruption, Accountability Bureau and other institutions and action against those responsible.
