Report: Zulfiqar Ali
The Prime Minister of Pakistan-administered Kashmir spent Rs 100 million on secret fund in just six months.
Rs 50 million was allocated for the secret fund for the financial year 2025-2026, but in just six months, Rs 125 million was released, out of which Rs 100 million has been spent.
The secret fund is not audited, nor is the Prime Minister accountable for where this money is used. However, the tragedy is that the Prime Ministers of this region have allegedly used this fund for bribery and political gains.
Faisal Mumtaz Rathore is the second Prime Minister of this region who has used almost 150 percent more than the budget allocated under the Secret Fund in a short period of time.
Earlier, former Prime Minister Tanveer Ilyas Khan had spent Rs 625 million in less than a year in the financial year 2022-2023, although only Rs 20 million was allocated under this heading in this financial year. That is, he spent Rs 605 million more than the prescribed budget.
Interestingly, the Assembly has not yet approved these excess expenses, nor has the former Prime Minister deposited this amount in the government treasury. Despite this, no action has been taken against the former Prime Minister.
People are raising the question of what kind of work the Prime Ministers of this region do that is secret. The main job of the government is to provide better facilities to the people. In such a situation, why has the Secret Fund been included in the budget of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat?
It should be noted that the outgoing Prime Minister had increased the amount of the secret fund from Rs 20 million to Rs 50 million in the financial year 2023-2024.
