Martial arts player Asim Awan, who hails from Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, has become extremely disappointed due to government non-cooperation. Asim Awan has been associated with the field of martial arts for the past ten years and has been participating in various competitions at the national and international levels during this time.
Asim Awan has won gold medals in several martial arts competitions held in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab, while also representing Pakistan twice at the international level and winning various medals. He says that despite limited resources, he not only proved his abilities with his hard work and dedication but also brought glory to the region and the country.
Talking to the media, Asim Awan said that he had fractured his shoulder during an ongoing martial arts competition, after which he bore all the medical expenses, including treatment and surgery, from his own pocket. He alleged that he had participated in the competitions on behalf of the Sports Department, so the responsibility for his treatment and rehabilitation lay with the relevant institutions, but no practical assistance has been provided so far.
Asim Awan said that he had also met Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore to inform him of his problems and appealed for financial and medical assistance, but despite this, no effective steps were taken to resolve his problem.
He said that if the players do not get proper facilities, treatment and government patronage, the youth’s inclination towards sports will be affected. Asim Awan demanded from the government, sports board and relevant institutions to take immediate steps for their treatment and rehabilitation so that they can again represent the country and the region in the field of sports.
