Curfew is being imposed in various areas of Balochistan due to security concerns. After Nushki, Mastung and Kalat, curfew has now been imposed in Sorab and Khuzdar. Authorities in Khuzdar have issued instructions to close shops in the evening and the public not to leave their homes.

The district administration of Sorab has ordered the imposition of curfew from 6 pm on August 6, 2026 to 6 am on August 8, in view of the security situation in the district, and has closed shops and business centers.

The district administration has directed all citizens to avoid leaving their homes unnecessarily during the prescribed hours and strictly follow the security SOPs.

The announcement clarified that those violating the curfew will be responsible for any possible loss to themselves, while legal action will be taken against those violating the law.

It should be noted that curfew has also been imposed in Kalat in the past few days, while security officials have ordered citizens that anyone who steps out of their homes during the curfew will be shot.

Earlier, curfew was also imposed in the Khadkocha area of Mastung, while curfew has been in effect in Zehri and Nushki for the past several months.

Meanwhile, in Khuzdar on Thursday, government officials asked traders to close their shops in the evening, while the general public was asked not to leave their homes.

Political and business leaders confirmed this and said that in a sense, a night curfew has been imposed in Khuzdar and Kalat.

They said that the common people will have to face difficulties due to this.

However, government officials say that no curfew has been imposed in both cities, but as a precaution, there will be a lockdown in both cities at night.

It is being said that a unanimous decision has been taken in a joint meeting of the district administration and the Khuzdar Traders Association that all markets will remain closed after 6:00 pm every day from today. However, medical stores, clinics and other emergency medical facilities will be exempted from this decision and will remain open as usual.

All citizens, shopkeepers and traders are requested to ensure the implementation of this decision of the district administration and provide full cooperation.

Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Lango said that no notification has been issued to impose curfew in any city of Balochistan.

Locals in Kalat said that the administration closed the shops in the market in the evening and people were told not to leave their homes at night.

JUI Central General Council member Hafiz Qasim Lehri said that shops were asked to close at 6 pm in the evening, while at night, according to him, people were asked not to leave their homes from 10 pm to 7 am.

He said that a night curfew has been imposed in Kalat in practice.

Balochistan National Party leader Qadir Bakhsh Mengal from Kalat also confirmed that local authorities in Kalat told traders to close their business activities in the evening, while people were told not to leave their homes at night.

He said that the entrance and exit routes of Kalat have been closed in the same way.

He said that the common people will definitely face difficulties due to these measures and in case of emergency, people will not be able to take their patients to the hospital.

He said that these measures need to be reviewed so that people do not face difficulties.

In Khuzdar city, a senior business leader also said on condition of anonymity that the administration and police came to the city and told traders to close their shops.

He said that the administration people gave the reason for this as security concerns and said that in case of any emergency action, there would be no harm to the common people.

A senior government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there were security concerns, which is why the two cities are being locked down as a precaution.

When journalists drew the attention of the interior minister to this at a press conference with traders on Thursday evening, he said that a handful of elements are involved in mischief activities on the orders of foreign countries and people are worried about their activities.

He said, “Security forces will take action to eliminate mischief activities on highways and wherever curfew is needed, there will be curfew, wherever intelligence-based operation is needed, there will be intelligence-based operation and wherever full military operation is needed, there will be full military operation.”

However, he said that no curfew notification has been issued in any city yet.
