Kashgil News Investigative Report
Reports are emerging of the mobilization of religious groups supported by Pakistan to sabotage the ongoing popular protest movement in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir. These elements are gradually trying to increase their influence within the movement and take it under their control.
This development is coming at a time when despite the immense use of state power, violence and the killing of several youths, when the public struggle was faced with failure, now efforts are being made to weaken and divide the movement internally.
In such a situation, the security of the representative leaders, activists, supporters and sympathizers of the movement has become a very serious concern. It is imperative that all democratic and public circles of the movement remain aware of these possible conspiracies at all times, avoid all kinds of provocations and divisions, and carry forward their struggle peacefully, unitedly, and adhering to public principles.
It should be remembered that in the past, when the Pakistani authorities’ policies of force and coercion to sabotage public movements failed and more intensity, stability, and organizational discipline were seen in the movements, religious groups were brought in to confront them.
It is generally said that these religious groups are the assets of the Pakistani authorities and they are patronized under these same objectives so that they can be used when needed.
This policy of using religious groups by the authorities to sabotage public movements is continuing with intensity throughout Pakistan, including Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is a very frightening and worrying development.
