Police seek details on registration of more FIRs against Ali Wazir

The Circuit Court of the High Court of Pakistan’s Sindh province, Hyderabad, has sought details from the police on the issue of registration of more FIRs against Pashtun leader and former Member of National Assembly Ali Wazir, who is imprisoned in District Jail Dadu.

The court directed the police authorities to inform them about the complete number of pending cases and FIRs against Ali Wazir, while if more cases have been registered against him during his detention, their records should also be presented in the court at the next hearing.

The Sindh High Court adjourned the further hearing of the case till September 10, 2026.

It may be recalled that Ali Wazir, a former Member of National Assembly affiliated with the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), was released on bail from Sukkur Jail in March 2026, however, a few hours after his release, the police re-arrested him in another sedition case. Later, the local court ordered his transfer to District Jail Dadu, where he is currently imprisoned.

It should be noted that Ali Wazir was arrested in December 2020, after which four cases have been filed against him.
