The Foreign Ministry of the Taliban government in Afghanistan has stated that it summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of the Pakistani embassy in Kabul today and handed him a formal letter of protest.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the protest was lodged regarding the entry of “subversive armed elements” into Nuristan province after crossing the Durand Line.
It is worth noting that recent reports have emerged of clashes between Taliban government forces and opposing armed groups in the Afghan provinces of Nuristan and Kunar, which border Pakistan.
The Taliban government had alleged that the militants crossed the Durand Line (the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan) and enjoyed Pakistan’s support.
Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense alleged that 28 individuals were killed and 32 arrested during an operation near the Kamdesh district of Nuristan province; it further claimed that these individuals had been trained by Pakistan and sent to Afghanistan to carry out subversive activities.
However, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting rejected these allegations, stating that claims linking Pakistan to the alleged violence or security operations in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province are baseless and contrary to the facts.
