The incident of Advocate Rizwan Ali, the President of the District Nagar Youth Organization of Gilgit-Baltistan, being forcibly disappeared by unknown persons from the Dinewar area last night has come to light, to which the organization has expressed strong reaction.
According to the organization’s spokesperson, this incident is a serious violation of human rights.
They demanded that Advocate Rizwan Ali be immediately recovered and his life and property be ensured.
The spokesperson warned that if Rizwan Ali is not recovered soon, the organization will launch a full-scale protest, which may include the closure of the Karakoram Highway and other strict measures.
The Nagar Youth Organization has appealed to the public and human rights organizations to raise their voice against this incident and play a role in the safe recovery of the abductee.
It should be noted that a full-scale state crackdown against political activists is underway in Gilgit-Baltistan. Many political activists and leaders critical of the state have been arrested, while Shabbir Mayar has been under house arrest for more than a year.
State repression against political opponents has created a serious concern among the public.
