Gwadar District: Attack on Coast Guard during patrolling at sea, 3 personnel killed

A patrolling speedboat of the Pakistan Coast Guard was targeted in the Baloch Sea in the coastal area of Jiwani in Gwadar district of Balochistan, resulting in the death of 3 personnel.

Official sources said that the dead included Naik Afzal, Sepoy Jamil and Sepoy Omar.

According to initial reports, the attackers were also on a speedboat and fled after the firing.

Authorities have said that a search operation has been launched in the area after the incident, however, further details about the nature of the attack and those responsible have not been released yet.

This incident is being described as the first such attack reported in the waters of the Baloch Sea.

Initially, it was reported that unknown persons targeted the forces in Jiwani, in which three personnel were killed on the spot. Later, officials clarified that the attack actually took place while patrolling at sea.

Baloch freedom fighters have carried out significant operations in Gwadar in the past in the name of “Zirpahaz” (meaning protection of the sea), when they targeted the Gwadar Port Office and the five-star Pearl Continental (PC) hotel located on the city’s hill.

In these attacks, the gunmen held the position for several hours and clashed fiercely with the forces, while during the suicide attack on the PC hotel, the attackers put up a long resistance and were killed in the fight.

These incidents have made the security situation in Gwadar a topic of discussion not only in Balochistan but also internationally.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for this attack.
