Iran not in favor of extending ceasefire

Mohsin Rezaei, an advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, has said that ‘we will not leave the Strait of Hormuz until our rights are fully recognized.’

Mohsin Rezaei, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council and former commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guards, said in an interview with news agencies inside Iran that ‘the Americans are afraid of continuous war, while we are fully prepared for a long war and have extensive experience in it.’

In the interview, he referred to statements by US President Donald Trump and US Secretary of Defense Pat Hegist and said, ‘If the Iranian navy has been destroyed, then why doesn’t the US dare to pass through the Strait of Hormuz?’

Mohsin Rezaei also said that although he follows the decisions of the country’s leadership, his personal opinion is that Iran should not be willing to extend the two-week ceasefire with the US.
