A roadblock protest was held in Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan for the release of Shabir Mayar, the chief organizer of the Gilgit-Baltistan United Movement.
Shabir Mayar was arrested from the Baltistan Inn Hotel a week ago and transferred to the Investigation Wing.
There was a public reaction against Shabir Mayar’s arrest, where the people of Kharmang blocked the Kargil Highway and staged a massive protest.
The protesters shouted strong slogans against Shabir Mayar’s arrest and alleged harassment by including him in Schedule IV.
The protesters said that Shabir Mayar should be released immediately and the abuses done to him should be redressed.
The people warned that if their demands were not met, the scope of the protest would be further expanded.
