Rumors of arrests of Awami Action Committee leaders in Muzaffarabad dismissed

The cases registered in connection with the incidents that took place in Pakistan-administered Kashmir between September 29 and October 4 have taken a new turn, where news of arrest warrants being issued against key leaders of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee has emerged.

According to sources, the names of the individuals whose names have emerged include Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Anjum Zaman Awan, Raja Saeed Javed, Raja Saeed Ahmed, Syed Hafeez Hamdani and Sahibzada Khalid Waqas, along with other core members.

According to reports, legal action is being taken on the basis of the FIRs registered against them.

On the other hand, the situation became more complicated when news about these arrests started spreading rapidly on social media. In this regard, SSP Muzaffarabad has issued a clear statement saying:
“Baseless propaganda is being spread on social media, an attempt is being made to create anarchy by spreading false rumors. Action will be taken against such elements as per the law.”

According to police officials, citizens should not believe unverified information and adopt a responsible attitude.

Throughout the day today, news regarding the arrest warrants of the leaders of the Awami Joint Action Committee continued to spread like “wildfire”, due to which anxiety was seen among the citizens. Speculations and unverified information continued to circulate on various social media platforms, which made the situation more sensitive.

It should be remembered that several cases were registered in the context of the incidents that took place between September 29 and October 4, on which legal progress is now underway. However, officials say that final information regarding any action should be obtained only from official sources.

In the current situation, while news of arrests is circulating, the police have also issued a stern warning, calling them rumors. In such a situation, distinguishing between facts and rumors is becoming a major challenge for citizens.
