Amir Abbasi’s enforced disappearance is unacceptable, citizens have become orphans, Ilyas Kashmiri

Jammu Kashmir People’s National Party Secretary General Ilyas Kashmiri strongly condemned the enforced disappearance of Amir Abbasi from Islamabad Airport and termed it a serious violation of human rights.

In a special statement, he said that first the process of offloading the citizens of the state of Jammu and Kashmir was started and now the terrible phase of enforced disappearances has begun, which is unacceptable.

Ilyas Kashmiri strongly criticized the ruling class of Muzaffarabad and raised the question that if the state is unable to protect the lives, property and honor of its citizens, then what justification does it have for ruling?

He said that the rulers do not have any record of how many citizens are living abroad or in Pakistan for employment. Every day, the bodies of the youth are received, but neither the causes of their death are determined nor are the killers brought to justice.

Describing the role of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee as key in the current situation, Ilyas Kashmiri said that the people are now considering this movement as their messiah.

He stressed that the Public Action Committee should further advance its program according to the time and circumstances. The current government should be dissolved immediately and an interim setup should be established in which the Public Action Committee should be represented. This interim setup should devise a mechanism for free elections so that such a leadership can emerge that guarantees the rights and livelihood of the people.

At the end of the statement, he demanded that Aamir Abbasi be immediately rescued. He clarified that if any citizen has committed any crime, he should be presented in the courts, because extrajudicial measures and enforced disappearances cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

He also appealed to international human rights organizations to take notice of this situation.
