YJF announces support for Ghazi Millat Press Club demands

The Young Journalists Forum in Pakistan-administered Kashmir has announced its full support for the Charter of Demands of Ghazi Millat Press Club Rawalakot and has reminded the government of its promises and demanded that immediate steps be taken to resolve the problems of journalists in Rawalakot so that the unrest among journalists across Azad Kashmir can be ended.

Neglecting this press club named after Ghazi Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan is tantamount to the government’s hostility towards Poonch. As per the promises made, the government should immediately ensure the construction of the Ghazi Millat Press Club building, establish Journalists Colony like other districts and restore the stripped financial and administrative powers of the Information Department of Poonch Division and make it fully functional.

The journalists of Rawalakot decided to launch a protest movement due to the government’s cold-bloodedness, which we fully support and stand with the office bearers and members of Ghazi Millat Press Club. If the government does not pay attention to this, not only will the Press Club support them in their protest movement, but YJF will also expand this movement throughout Azad Kashmir.

In the YJF Poonch meeting, it was said that like Muzaffarabad and Mirpur, Poonch should also be given equal rights and the demands of justice should be met by solving basic problems. The government has always been content with just verbal statements and avoiding practical steps, due to which there is great concern among journalists.

YJF has demanded from all the political leadership, trade unions and prominent personalities of Poonch division to also raise their voice in this regard because the Press Club of Rawalakot, the divisional headquarters of Poonch, is not only a joint institution of journalists but of everyone and the stronger this institution becomes, the more the good name of every person living in this region will increase.
