Fidayee attack on train in Balochistan, 16 killed, emergency imposed in hospitals

A train leaving Quetta Cantt near Chaman Phatak area of ​​Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, was attacked near the railway track, as a result of which several bogies of the train derailed.

According to reports so far, at least 16 people were killed and more than 30 were injured in the explosion.

The incident is being said to be the result of a suicide blast, while heavy firing is also ongoing at the scene.

Emergency was imposed in hospitals immediately after the incident, and a large contingent of ambulances and security forces was sent to the area.

Security agencies have cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

According to rescue officials, 8 bodies of the dead have been shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta, while several injured are being provided medical assistance in various hospitals. A large number of women and small children are among the injured.

Videos released after the blast showed vehicles parked near the railway line on fire, while train bogies were overturned on the track.

The train was coming from Cantt when the blast hit.

An eyewitness at the scene told the BBC that the intensity of the blast caused two bogies of the train to overturn, with one bogie badly damaged due to the fire.

On the other hand, the spokesman of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an armed organization active for the liberation of Balochistan, Jayend Baloch, in a brief statement to the media, accepted responsibility for the horrific attack on a train near Chaman Phatak in the central city of Quetta on Sunday and said that the suicide bombers accept responsibility for the attack on the train carrying military personnel from Quetta Cantt.

The statement said that the Baloch Liberation Army’s suicide bomber unit Majeed Brigade targeted a train transporting personnel of the occupying army from Quetta Cantt this morning in a highly organized suicide bomber attack.

Jayend Baloch said that the Baloch Liberation Army accepts full responsibility for this attack. The casualties and property losses suffered by the enemy as a result of the attack and detailed information about this operation will be released in a regular statement to be issued to the media soon.
