Love across the LOC? Video of Pakistani Kashmiri youth & Indian Kashmiri girl goes viral

A video is going viral on social media in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in which a young man from Pakistan-administered Kashmir and a young girl from Indian-administered Kashmir can be seen together.

In the video, a person, who is not visible in front of the camera, is asking the young couple questions.

According to the video, he asks the boy his name, father’s name and residential area, to which the young man tells his name Zeeshan Mir, father Lal Din, resident of Rankari.

Similarly, the girl is also asked her name, father’s name and residential area, to which she tells her name Iram, father Majeed, resident of Talawadi.

Apparently, this video seems to have been made in Indian-administered Kashmir, however, it is not clear who recorded the video and who shared it on social media.

Rankari village is located near the Line of Control in Haveli district of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, while Talawadi is a border village in Baramulla district of Indian-administered Kashmir, which is located near the Line of Control. The two villages are located opposite each other.

After the video went viral, various speculations are being made on social media. Some users believe that the young man crossed the Line of Control to reach Indian-administered Kashmir to meet the girl. However, there has been no final confirmation in this regard at the official level yet.

Tariq Mahmood, Deputy Commissioner of Haveli district, said about the incident:
“Such an incident is on social media. The police are investigating. According to the initial information received, such an incident has taken place.”

It should be noted that a similar incident had come to light in November 2024 when a girl named Fatima from Karni area of Indian-administered Kashmir crossed the Line of Control and reached a village in Haveli district.

Police later said that the girl had crossed the Line of Control to marry a young man named Imran.

An investigation into the recent video is underway and officials say more details will be released once the facts come to light.
