Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, a member of the Legislative Assembly of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, has alleged that six unidentified persons raided his house without a search warrant on Wednesday evening and tried to search him.
Talking to reporters on Thursday, Khawaja Farooq Ahmed said that four of the raiders were masked while two had their faces uncovered.
According to him, he was not present at home when the operation took place, but the house was searched.
Khawaja Farooq Ahmed said, “If I cannot protect myself as a member of the assembly, how will I protect the people of Azad Kashmir?”
Expressing concern over the incident, he said that such incidents with public representatives are a cause for concern.
Khawaja Farooq Ahmed is one of the important leaders in the early political history of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The region first adopted a parliamentary system in 1974, following which the first Legislative Assembly came into existence in March 1974. Khawaja Farooq Ahmed was also a member of this first assembly.
He has also served as the Acting Prime Minister of Pakistan-administered Kashmir and the Leader of the Opposition. He belongs to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
