US President Donald Trump says that ‘Iran and other Middle Eastern countries have asked us to stop the attack, because the basic points of an agreement have been agreed upon.’
In a statement released on Truth Social, President Trump said that ‘the United States was fully prepared for military action against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the intensity, power and military capability of which has never been seen since World War II.’
According to Trump, the proposed agreement includes the immediate, complete and unconditional opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the elimination of the Iranian nuclear threat.
He added that ‘based on this request, in view of the better future of the world and the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, I have agreed to cancel the proposed attack on the condition that an agreement be reached quickly.’
The US President also said that ‘Israel also joins us in this commitment. Now everyone get down to work and complete this deal.’
US President Donald Trump had earlier threatened Iran with ‘very severe’ attacks, saying that ‘the US will hit Iran ‘very badly’, while US media reported that he was considering new major attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure and other targets today or tomorrow.’
However, some time ago, news emerged about Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi’s contacts with Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, in which he warned that ‘Iran will respond decisively to any aggression by the US or Israel.’
At the same time, Turkey also expressed its determination to continue its diplomatic efforts for negotiations and lasting peace in the region.
