Unknown armed men in the Chahtar area of Chagai district of Balochistan snatched five Mazda vehicles loaded with mangoes from a trade convoy under the custody and protection of the security squad of the Pakistani army and Frontier Corps and moved them to an unknown location.
According to sources, all the aforementioned vehicles had been stopped in Noshki for the past two days on the pretext of forming a security squad. When a regular convoy was formed under the supervision of the Pakistani army and FC and the vehicles were sent towards Dalbandin and Taftan, the armed men at Chahtar surrounded all the five Mazda vehicles, took them into their possession and fled despite the presence of the forces.
Transporters have expressed serious concern and surprise over this incident and raised the question of how such a large number of vehicles could be kidnapped and held hostage despite being included in a tough squad of the army and Frontier Corps?
It should be noted that in the same area (Chatar), a cargo bus was also kidnapped yesterday along with its driver and two conductors, which was carrying a large consignment of 1200 cartons of mangoes and rice and was going from Quetta to Taftan.
According to sources, the driver and both conductors (crew) of the cargo bus that was kidnapped yesterday have been released and have safely reached their homes, however, the cargo bus and goods worth crores of rupees loaded in it are still missing and in the possession of the kidnappers.
The hijacking of vehicles loaded with commercial goods for the second consecutive day has spread severe anxiety among traders and drivers in the region. No official statement has been issued by the army or the Frontier Corps regarding these incidents yet.
