The Arab League condemned the continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon and described yesterday’s attacks as a “dangerous escalation.” Eleven people were killed in the attacks.
According to the Arab League, this situation could affect efforts to reach a ceasefire and a solution.
An Arab League spokesman said that “Israeli policies and actions clearly show that the occupying power wants to prolong the conflict, obstruct negotiations and change the realities on the ground to suit its will, which cannot be accepted under any circumstances.”
The spokesman warned that “this conflict could spread to more areas.”
According to him, “If the international community, especially the United States, fails to stop Israel’s ‘war’ and force it to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701, the situation will become more tense.”
Resolution 1701, passed in 2006, called for a complete ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. The resolution also called for an immediate cessation of all Hezbollah attacks and all Israeli offensive military operations.
