During the public movement for fundamental rights in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir for the past two and a half months, the situation has become extremely tense due to the strict measures and blockades of the forces. While on one hand, ordinary citizens, women, children and the elderly are participating in the protest, on the other hand, there are reports of cracks and arrests within the security agencies.
According to reports received from sources, the Frontier Corps (FC) has detained 43 youths and 3 lower-ranking officers of the Azad Kashmir Police and shifted them to an unknown or secret location.
According to sources, since July, these police personnel were first shifted to Muzaffarabad, where after presenting them before the IG Police, the FC detained them and shifted them to an unknown location.
Sources say that these personnel are accused of having adopted such a conversation or attitude that there was a risk of rebellion within the forces and deterioration of the law and order situation. This step was taken against them in view of this fear.
The police department could not officially confirm this news and police officials are continuously avoiding discussing the matter.
Dharnas and protests are continuously going on in various areas including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, including under the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee for the provision of fundamental rights, the focal point of which is the Rawalakot dharna.
Due to the complete blockade of the region by Pakistani forces, there has been a severe shortage of food, drinks, rations and medicines, which has led to a serious economic and humanitarian crisis in the area.
Several protesters have been killed as a result of firing by the state and forces to suppress the protests, while thousands of people have been arrested.
Several active leaders and activists, including the central leader of the Joint Public Action Committee, Shaukat Nawaz Mir, have been arrested and forcibly disappeared, and no trace of them has been found yet, and there is serious concern about them.
The continuous blockade, arrests and detention of Azad Kashmir police personnel in the region have caused great anger and panic among the public and the administrative level.
