A renowned poet and journalist Ahmed Farhad, imprisoned in the City Bagh Jail in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, has written an emotional and painful letter on the occasion of his son’s birthday. In the letter, he expressed deep sorrow and regret over the continuous separation, the hardships of imprisonment and the impact of his choices on the lives of his children.
Ahmed Farhad wrote that this is the third consecutive time that he is not present with his son on his birthday. He apologized to his son that he had been kidnapped once and imprisoned twice, putting a heavy burden of separation on his innocent age.
He admitted that instead of creating comforts, property and money for his children, he has written poverty and exile in their fate by quitting jobs and buying enmity.
The poet said that if it were up to him, he would have erased his name from the children’s identity cards, because his name and shadow would continue to create difficulties and thorns in the path of his children throughout their lives.
He wrote that as a person who is more conscious than his conscience, he could never live the life of a common man. At the end of the letter, he prayed for his son to live the life of a common man and never have a “cancer of consciousness” like his father.
At the end of the letter, Ahmed Farhad wrote to his son, “The unspeakable star of the city of the unworthy” and “Your bad father.” He sent this message from City Bagh Police Station, Azad Kashmir.
