Mirza Khayyam, a resident of Bagh Reh Bagh district of Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir, had returned home from Dubai a few days ago, and was allegedly arrested by the police.
According to the family, no case of any kind was registered against Mirza Khayyam, but despite this, he was taken into custody.
According to sources, Mirza Khayyam’s spinal cord was severely damaged during detention, as a result of which both his legs stopped working and he was unable to walk.
Mirza Khayyam was shifted to CMH Rawalpindi for treatment, where his spinal cord was operated on today. Regarding his current condition, his family and friends have appealed to the citizens for special prayers for his speedy recovery.
The incident has also raised several important questions: if there was no case registered against Mirza Khayyam, on what basis was he arrested? And how did he sustain such a serious injury during his detention that both his legs stopped working?
The relevant authorities are being demanded to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident and determine on what basis Mirza Khayyam was detained and who is responsible for the incident that occurred during his detention.
On the other hand, the family has appealed to the public for special prayers for Mirza Khayyam’s speedy and complete recovery.
