The Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Awami Committee (JKJAAC) in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, issuing a formal declaration after an important meeting in Rawalakot, has appealed for a complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike across Azad Kashmir on September 9, 2026, against the non-implementation of the agreements reached with the Government of Pakistan and the Government of Azad Kashmir.
According to the declaration, despite the written agreements reached with the Government of Pakistan on December 4, 2025 and with the Government of Azad Kashmir on February 29, 2026, the governments did not implement the demands. The Awami Action Committee, while informing the public through a press conference in Rawalakot, made it clear that the movement will continue its constitutional and peaceful struggle to achieve its rights in the future as well.
The committee took the stand in its declaration that the people of Azad Kashmir are being deprived of basic human and political rights and facilities. The Action Committee is struggling on the following important issues and demands:
Provision of facilities: Fair electricity rates, restoration of health, education and infrastructure.
Elimination of inflation and taxes: Reduction in prices of food items, abolition of cruel taxes, additional charges on toll plazas and internet and mobile services.
Elimination of corruption: Action against corruption in jobs, corruption and so-called encroachments on public resources.
The Action Committee has appealed to the business community, teachers, lawyers, workers, women, elders and youth to come out of their homes on September 9 and organize protests in all small and big cities and villages. All the subsidiary organizations have been directed to make the strikes and demonstrations successful as per the given schedule.
