Canada has officially announced the provision of $1.35 million in emergency financial aid to address the severe humanitarian crisis and food insecurity facing Afghanistan.
The Afghanistan branch of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has confirmed the official receipt of these funds from the Canadian government. According to a statement issued by OCHA, the money has been deposited directly into the ‘Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund’ (AHF).
According to the UN, these funds will be used to meet the immediate survival, medical, and basic humanitarian needs of the most affected and vulnerable Afghan families—addressing the countrywide severe food insecurity and preparing for the impending winter season.
OCHA has officially thanked the Canadian administration for providing continuous, transparent, and timely assistance to the Afghan people during this difficult time.
