Two US officials have told Reuters that the US military is preparing for weeks-long operations in the event of a possible attack on Iran by President Donald Trump.
According to Reuters, both officials spoke on condition of anonymity.
When asked about preparations for a possible military operation, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said that “President Trump has all options on the table regarding Iran.”
She also said that “he (Trump) listens to different points of view on any issue but makes the final decision based on what is best for our country and our national security.”
The Pentagon declined to comment on the matter.
It should be noted that the US and Iran launched new talks in the Omani capital Muscat last week.
Tensions between the two countries have escalated in recent weeks as US troops are deployed to the Middle East and rhetoric from both sides has intensified.
