Five personnel were killed and one was injured in two separate attacks by unidentified gunmen within the span of an hour in the southern district of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the police, the first incident occurred near Bypass Road, where Highway Traffic Police personnel came under fire. Constable Habib (a driver) was killed on the spot, while Head Constable Subhan sustained injuries.
Police stated that the second attack took place around 11:30 AM at Qureshi Morr, where officials from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) were on duty. District Police Officer Ziauddin reported that the victims included two permanent FBR officials and two private employees accompanying them.
Police added that there are reports suggesting the two employees assisting the FBR officials were working on a contract basis; however, further investigations into this matter are underway.
According to Rescue 1122 Dera Ismail Khan, the control room received a report regarding an attack and gunfire directed at Customs Police personnel near Bhatti Pump on University Road. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of four individuals from the scene and transported them to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.
Authorities have initiated investigations into both incidents, and a search for the attackers is ongoing.
Numerous attacks targeting personnel from the police, Customs, FBR, and other security agencies have occurred in Dera Ismail Khan during 2026. A police official was injured in an attack on the Khatti police check post on January 14. On February 3, four police personnel were injured in an attack on the Paroa police station, while on February 11, five personnel were killed and another—including a DSP—was injured in an attack on a police team in the Wanda Budh area of ​​Paniala.
On February 18, the Yarik police station and a nearby Customs office were targeted simultaneously, resulting in the deaths of a police constable and a Customs official.
The Khatti police check post was attacked again on March 14, leaving a constable injured; on April 24, the Daraban police station was attacked with rocket launchers and heavy weaponry, though no casualties occurred.
Police Constable Abdul Aziz was killed in a shooting incident outside the Yarik police station on May 19, while on July 31, ASI Faqir Muhammad and Head Constable Wazir Khan lost their lives in an attack on a police party near Shah Alam Mor in the Chaudhwan area.
Three police personnel and two passersby were injured in an attack on the Dogh Shapela police post in Darazinda on August 25. Several personnel were injured in incidents involving gunfire at police vehicles in the Amin Farm area on August 28 and 29.
On September 26, a suicide attack using an explosives-laden vehicle was carried out against a joint police, Customs, and Excise check post at Aman Mela in Darazinda, killing 12 people and injuring 35. Two Customs officials were among the fatalities.
