Women and children protested against severe water shortage and prolonged power load shedding in Nadir Chowk, Zulfiqarabad area of Gilgit city, Gilgit-Baltistan under the administration of Pakistan.
The protesters gathered on the road, shouted slogans and demanded that the area be provided with basic facilities immediately.
The protesters said that a damaged transformer has not been replaced or installed for the past one month, due to which the power supply in the area has been suspended. Due to the power outage, water motors are also not working, as a result, water is not available in the houses and daily life has been severely affected.
The women said that the lack of water has paralyzed domestic affairs, while children are also facing severe difficulties.
They demanded that the relevant authorities take immediate notice of the problem and ensure the restoration of electricity and water supply, otherwise the scope of the protest will be expanded.
