Firing incidents occurred during protests outside the United Nations offices in Gilgit and Skardu, the Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan region, resulting in a total of 10 people killed and more than 70 injured.
According to sources, unidentified individuals opened fire on protesters in Gilgit, resulting in the death of 7 Shia youths and injuries to 27.
After the incident, severe tension spread in the city and reports were also received that the United Nations office was set on fire by angry protesters. Security forces surrounded the area and tried to bring the situation under control.
On the other hand, 3 civilians were also killed in firing outside the United Nations office in Skardu while more than 45 people were injured.
The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals, where the condition of some is said to be critical.
The perpetrators of the shooting have not yet been identified, and no official statement has been issued by the authorities. Security has been put on high alert in both cities and the situation is tense. Civilians have demanded a transparent investigation into the incident and action against those responsible.
