Gilgit-Baltistan imposes three-day curfew, army called in

The Pakistan-administered Gilgit-Baltistan government has announced a three-day curfew in Gilgit and Skardu districts in view of the law and order situation in the region.

According to a statement issued by the Gilgit-Baltistan Home and Prisons Department, the curfew will remain in effect until March 2, 3 and 4, while the deployment of the Pakistan Army has also been requested to maintain law and order.

The government letter said that the situation is tense after the recent large-scale protests, in view of which this step has been taken to protect human life and property.

According to the statement, military troops will be deployed in Gilgit and Skardu districts to avoid any untoward incident.

Curfew and relaxation schedule:
March 2
Curfew from 12 pm to 12 noon
Relaxation from 12 pm to 4 pm
Curfew from 4 pm to 12 midnight
March 3
Relaxation from 12 pm to 5 am
Curfew from 5 am to 4 pm
Relaxation from 4 pm to 8 pm
Curfew from 8 pm to 5 am
March 4
Relaxation from 5 am to 8 am
Curfew from 8 am to 4 pm
Relaxation from 4 pm to 8 pm
Curfew from 8 pm to 12 midnight
The authorities have appealed to the public to adhere to the stipulated timings and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies. Instructions have also been issued to contact the concerned district administration in case of any emergency.
