AJK and GB elections are just a game of selection, Mazruq Afzal

Jammu Kashmir Peoples National Party leader Mazruq Afzal, in his strong statement issued from Italy, has completely rejected the upcoming elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, saying that these so-called elections are actually a dirty game of selection of their puppet representatives by the powerful forces of Pakistan.

He said that every time a pretense is created in the name of democracy, in which the real representation of the people is deliberately crushed.

Expressing deep anger, Mazruq Afzal said that including political workers in the exit control list and taking away their basic right to movement reflects the worst fascism and open state oppression. He said that state tactics are being used to suppress those who have dissenting opinions, which are unacceptable in any civilized society.

He further said that restricting political leaders to their homes in Gilgit-Baltistan under Schedule 4 is a grave human rights violation and this act comes under the category of blatant political vendetta. He criticized the government of Pakistan, saying that it is continuously trying to suppress the voice of the people of the region through such undemocratic measures.

Finally, he strongly condemned all these measures and called on the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate notice of this situation and raise their voice against the ongoing political oppression in the region.
