Karakoram Highway has been closed to all types of traffic under the leadership of Maulana Hazratullah, head of the “Hukuk Do Dam Banao Tehreek” and other scholars in the Thor Das area of Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan. The protesters say that the protest will continue until the 2025 agreement is fully implemented.
A large number of Diamer Bhasha Dam victims are participating in the protest, who are on the road in favor of their demands. According to the protesters, they are facing severe difficulties due to the government’s non-implementation of the agreement.
According to police sources, the district administration has stopped convoys from different areas coming to participate in the protest sit-in at Hodar and Gahchi, which is likely to increase tension.
On this occasion, Maulana Hazratullah made it clear that the sit-in will continue until the government ensures the implementation of the 2025 agreement signed with the victims.
