Another case has been registered against former member of the National Assembly and Pashtun Tahafuz Movement leader Ali Wazir in Pakistan’s Sindh province, taking the number of FIRs against him to three. The latest case was registered on March 19 at Jamshoro police station, while the minister is already in custody in Dadu jail in two other cases.
According to the police, FIR No. 84/2026 has been registered under sections 324, 353, 341, 186, 147, 148, 149 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code, in which ASI Tariq Kathio is the plaintiff. According to the complaint, the police party, while on patrol near Jamshoro, saw more than 20 people blocking the road and protesting, who were allegedly shouting slogans against the minister’s arrest.
The FIR also claims that when the police tried to disperse the protesters, they resisted, and some of them allegedly opened fire, after which all the people fled taking advantage of the darkness.
On the other hand, Ali Wazir’s legal team has termed the case as “false, bogus and fabricated” and called it a “ghost FIR”. According to the lawyers, this case also repeats the same allegations and narratives that emerged in the two FIRs registered earlier.
It should be noted that the first FIR was registered on March 16 at the A Section police station in Dadu, in which serious provisions including the Anti-Terrorism Act were included, while the second FIR was registered on March 17 at the B Section Dadu, in which charges of assault on the police and interference in official work were made.
In a legal development, the minister’s lawyer Imdad Haider Solangi appeared before the court of Judicial Magistrate Jamshoro on Tuesday and attended the hearing, where the case was adjourned till April 10.
According to the lawyer, the third FIR will also be challenged through a constitutional petition in the Hyderabad Circuit Bench of the Sindh High Court. Earlier, the court had already issued notices to the provincial authorities while hearing the petition filed against two other cases, and the next hearing of the case is scheduled for April 22.
