UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the large-scale Israeli attacks across Lebanon on April 8 and called on all parties to immediately cease hostilities.
In a statement, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the attacks had ‘killed and injured hundreds of civilians, including children, and damaged civilian infrastructure.’
He expressed concern at the increasing civilian casualties in the attacks.
Antonio Guterres warned that military activities in Lebanon ‘could pose a serious threat to the ceasefire and efforts for a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region.’
He added that ‘there can be no military solution to the conflict.’
