The National Workers Front Gilgit-Baltistan has expressed deep concern and regret over the deteriorating law and order situation in the region.
In a statement, the organization said that on the one hand, terrorist elements are roaming freely and easily escape after killing police personnel, while on the other hand, other political and public leaders including Chairman of the Awami Action Committee Ehsan Ali Advocate have been arrested and kept in jail under Schedule Four and the Anti-Terrorism Act simply for demanding basic human rights.
The statement said that this behavior is against the principles of justice and rule of law.
The organization demanded the state machinery and administration to immediately release all arrested leaders including Ehsan Ali Advocate and stop the harassment of political workers.
The National Workers Front further said that the FC, Rangers and other security agencies should focus their energies on operations against terrorist elements who are involved in the massacre of innocent civilians instead of unnecessarily harassing the public.
The statement concluded by warning that if the public is not provided with protection, they will be forced to protect themselves, which could further worsen the situation.
