According to the latest data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the total number of registered mobile SIMs in Pakistani Kashmir has reached 4.6 million 1,319, reflecting the growing trend of digital connectivity in the region.
According to the report, Telenor has the highest number of subscribers, with 2 million 59,161. Zong is in second place with 1 million 20,825 subscribers.
Similarly, SCO (Scom) has recorded 895,353 subscribers, while Jazz has 360,198 subscribers. Ufone has 265,782 subscribers.
According to the PTA, the number of DSL internet subscribers in the region is only 7,699, indicating that broadband infrastructure is still limited and more investment is needed.
According to experts, the increase in mobile users is a positive development, however, the government and private sectors will have to take further steps to provide high-speed internet and modern broadband facilities to further promote digital development in the region.
