Reacting to the announcement of the government’s All Parties Conference (APC) in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee core member Shaukat Nawaz Mir has said that he was not surprised by the APC’s announcement as similar conferences have been held in the past as well.
Shaukat Nawaz Mir said, “We know the conduct of their All Parties Conferences from August 5, 2019 till date, this is nothing new for us.”
He raised the question, “What kind of All Parties are these? These All Parties are organized and convened for their own interests, so we did not even expect any positive result from it.”
The core member of the Joint Public Action Committee said that the government and political parties did not have any strong legal or moral justification to link the issue of twelve seats for refugees with the Kashmir issue.
He said, “They had no legal basis on which to take the stand that these twelve seats are related to the Kashmir issue. When you do not have moral and legal basis, then such statements are issued.”
It should be noted that the statement issued at the end of the All Parties Conference hosted by the government and the opposition on the issue of the twelve refugee seats announced the retention of these seats and the adoption of a unanimous stand on them, on which the Joint Public Action Committee expressed reservations.
