Shutter down and wheel jam strike across Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad long march announced on June 9

A shutter down and wheel jam strike is underway across Jammu and Kashmir on the appeal of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee in Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir. Business centers, markets and commercial activities remained closed in various cities, towns and rural areas, while protest gatherings and sit-ins are also underway at several places. Protest circles claim that the public response is strong in the current situation and the strike is being fully observed in various areas.

The sit-in that started after the killing of Shahzeb Habib in firing in Rawalakot in the past few days is still ongoing. A large number of people are present at the sit-in site, while the speakers are demanding a transparent investigation into the incident and action against those responsible. The protest participants say that the protest will continue until the demands are approved.

On the other hand, protests are also underway at important entry points including Azad Pattan. According to the protesters, all types of traffic are closed at the Azad Pattan entry point, but the routes have been kept open for emergency services, patients and people in urgent travel situations. According to reports from different areas, the protest committees are providing facilities to the patients and passengers keeping in mind the essential humanitarian needs.

The Joint Public Action Committee has also announced a long march from all districts of Jammu and Kashmir from Bhimber to Neelum towards Muzaffarabad on June 9. According to the leaders of the committee, convoys from different areas will leave for Muzaffarabad where a big public meeting will be held. The protest leadership says that the movement will continue until the public demands are accepted and the current situation is resolved, while the series of protest activities and public relations campaigns will also be maintained in different cities.
