Following a consultative meeting of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) Muzaffarabad Division, a significant declaration has been issued. It announces a decision to observe a complete lockdown across the entire Muzaffarabad Division—including the Neelum and Jhelum Valley districts—on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. This action is in protest against the illegal detention and enforced disappearances of leaders and activists, as well as the violation of the sanctity of the home (chadar-o-char-dewari).
The JKJAAC has expressed deep anguish and outrage over the illegal detention and enforced disappearance of its members, including core members Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Raja Amjad Ali Khan (Advocate), Anjum Zaman Awan, and Raja Iftikhar Ahmed, as well as divisional members Raja Shafiq Inqilabi, Amir Yousuf Zargar, Khawaja Wasi Ahmed, and Ali Changezi.
The declaration strongly condemns the raids on the homes of core members Khawaja Mujtaba Banday, Khurshid Ahmed Salhria, and other leaders and activists, as well as the vandalism and the persistent violation of the sanctity of their homes.
The Action Committee has reiterated its solidarity with the historic sit-in protest continuing in Rawalakot for the past 106 days, expressing its full support for the movement. The Information and Publicity Wing of the Jammu & Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee (Muzaffarabad Division) has appealed to traders, transporters, students, lawyers, political and social activists, women, and civil society to come out in an organized and united manner to press for the implementation of the public ‘Charter of Demands’ and the immediate release of all their missing and detained leaders, and to observe a complete shutdown of all business and transport activities on September 22.
