Gilgit-Baltistan: Former Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Instructs PTI Workers to Ensure Their Safety

Former Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khalid Khurshid, has instructed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in the region to remain cautious and ensure their safety in light of the prevailing political situation.

In a statement, Khalid Khurshid advised PTI workers to change their locations and keep themselves safe, noting that final instructions regarding the ‘Long March’ would soon be issued by the party’s central leadership.

The former Chief Minister claimed that the homes of PTI workers in Gilgit-Baltistan—particularly in Gilgit district and other areas—are allegedly being raided at night, and their families are being harassed, a situation he described as deeply concerning.

Referring to the recent elections, Khalid Khurshid alleged that PTI was excluded from the electoral process to pave the way for the success of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He remarked that while both parties claim to be democratic, in practice, they are playing the role of “Mir Jafar and Mir Sadiq” regarding democracy.

Expressing concern over the current political climate in Gilgit-Baltistan, the former Chief Minister stated that there is no hope for the protection of public rights under the incumbent government. He asserted that those in power have compromised their consciences for the sake of authority.

He urged PTI workers to exercise caution during political activities amidst the current situation and to await further instructions from the party’s central leadership.
