Ali Taj, the Provincial Information Secretary and Spokesperson for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Gilgit-Baltistan, has claimed that a police team—accompanied by female officers—raided his home in Oshikhandas at night, allegedly entering the premises by scaling a wall at the back of the house.
According to Ali Taj, he was not at home when the incident occurred and was informed about the raid by his family. He stated that the police personnel did not show any court warrant to his family members.
The PTI leader claimed that a large police contingent had also visited his home last week. Describing the Gilgit-Baltistan Police as a dignified institution, he said he respects the force’s high traditions and values; however, he termed the nighttime raid conducted in this manner as regrettable.
Ali Taj stated that for the past two and a half years, he has been regularly appearing before the relevant courts in cases registered against him—including those under the Anti-Terrorism Act—and asserted that he has never missed a court hearing.
He alleged that such actions are being taken against him due to his political affiliation and his role as the provincial spokesperson for PTI Gilgit-Baltistan.
Ali Taj has called upon Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain to take notice of the incident, ascertain the reasons behind the police action, and seek a clarification regarding the matter.
